A new Charter High School is going to open this Fall in Minneapolis. The
school is called Cities West Academy, and our mission centers on
academic excellence and engaged citizenship. We have secured a great
building close to the U of M Campus in Dinkytown, we've hired a
wonderfully talented director and are assembling a great team of
teachers. We have already enrolled an exceptional group of students, and
are finalizing our curriculum as the teaching staff comes on board.
Enrollment is limited (we'll start with 100 students this fall,) but we
still have space for students interested in a small school with unique
characteristics.
Cities West Academy offers:
---- A small learning community and small classes
---- A tuition-free public high school with the autonomy to select its
own board, staff and curriculum
---- Unique opportunities including real world experiences in civic
learning projects and public work
---- A focus on critical thinking and experiential learning
---- A community where all students' individual talents and skills will
be valued
Cities West students will have the opportunity to do Public
Achievement, a youth civic engagement initiative in which young people
do work to solve public problems that are important to them.
Please help in getting the word out about Cities West by sharing this
information with families who might benefit from learning more about the
school.
