My apologies to the list manager but you missed the point of my
original post. I am not raising the issue of the Schiavo case for
discussion but the trend of the Strib under its new owners to not
cover local news like it used to and its shift toward right wing
propaganda in place of information the public needs to know. It seems
to be turning toward tabloid spin than journalistic integrity. I used
to two stories on the Schiavo autopsy as a case in point. But how
about the lack of coverage on the Gurban Stone controversy or its
strange silence last December during the annointing of Gurban over a
much better candidate when only a year earlier under the Cowles the
Strib had brought up the Gurban/MRPA/Pulltab controversy after his
selection then.
That was the point of discussion I was starting--the changes in
coverage in the Strib and the direction it seems to be heading.
If the changes show up in the Strib's coverage of Minneapolis, it's
probably appropriate to this list. So restrict list posts to examples
of Minneapolis coverage, and restrict debate to Mpls coverage. (Schiavo
is clearly off base here.)
Further questions/perspectives on this, please email me offlist.
