Our block club sent a letter to every rental property on our block with copies of the crime free multi housing lease addendum. At least these people have changed their rental to month to month with no long term leases. I have talked to several prominent landlords in the city about the crime free lease addendum and they think they would still have a very difficult time in court trying to evict a tenant on some of the behavioral violations cited on the lease addendum. While I think it is a great document it appears as if we need to educate the housing court judges regarding it's merit. Oddly enough I have two 21/2 story walk-ups, 3 duplexes, 3 tri-plexes and a rooming house on my block. The corner house is the ONLY property we have any problems in. The problem the property manager for the corner house is having with the bust last night is that the police recap report didn't mention the apartment number, only the address and it didn't state that anyone was arrested or that they found drugs and guns in the place. She may get a hard time in court without the right language on the public recap. Time will tell. Barb Lickness Whittier
