Dear list friends and supporters,
Celebrate all that is Northeast Minneapolis at the 2005 Northeast Parade
TONIGHT beginning at at 6:30 p.m. The parade will start at 28th and
Central (CP Railway site) and travel south to Central and 14th. The
parade, the second oldest in the state, has a long and treasured
tradition that only can be found in Northeast. The parade celebrates its
76th Anniversary tonight.
Neighbors for Neumann will be "marching" in the parade with the
Minneapolis-5th District Green Party and city-wide candidates that
include Annie Young for Mpls Parks and Farheen Hakeem for Minneapolis
Mayor. We are not exactly marching as much as we will be biking!
That's right, grease up your chains and ride over to the Canadian
Pacific Railway Shoreham Yards, 2800 Central Avenue NE, and head to the
back of the line as we are # 86 (of 100) this year. Line up will begin
at 5 p.m. Please make an effort to bike in this parade. A strong show
of support is much needed in this crucial Minneapolis election year.
The Northeast Parade began in the 1920's as a car parade and has
continued uninterrupted each year since then, except for a few years
during WW II. The Parade is really fun, so come check out all things
"Nordeast" tonight. Afterwards, head over to Holland Neighborhood's
summer "Movies in the Park" season starter (at sunset). Tonight's
movie: "Bedknobs and Broomsticks", a movie for the whole family to
enjoy! Movies are screened in the Basin 22nd at Quincy St. NE (next to
Edison High School and across the street from Jackson Square Park).
See you there!
