I draw the line on the allegation that CP Johnson-Lee has not rolled up her sleeves and done work on behalf of the people. Now I will defend her. Just because she does not have a camera in her face every time she does something in the community, or doesn't have her supporters sending out emails on this forum, and in other venues, attacking the Don Samuels campaign does not mean she is not out there working for the people. It just means she is not stooping to the level of some. I think Don's supporters are out there spewing their rhetoric without his urging. I have had the opportunity to hear her speak, and she does with great knowledge and passion. I have not had the opportunity to hear CP Don Samuels. If you call rolling up your sleeves, having peace marches through a neighborhood with people who don't even live in the neighborhood, a neighborhood that continues to be riddled with violence, then you have to rethink your tactics because that has not changed anything. People are still dying and drugs are still being sold. You can walk the soles off of your shoes and that will only mean that you need to buy a new pair. When you say that CP Don Samuels has rolled up his sleeves and done the real work for the people, what has that been? Why does the media need to respond to everything the PEACE organization does in the community? That seems a little to political to me. Of the 450-500 people marching, how many actually live in the Jordan neighborhood? I have a problem, as it is, with the only two African-Americans on the council having their wards combined, causing one of them to give up their seat for the poorest ward in the city. Next time 450-500 of you march, please do it at night when the police are racing from call to call, from shooting to shooting, so that you can be there to comfort some mother or father who child was just murdered and help the police bring calm to volatile situations, that's how you roll up your sleeves. Listening to those personal attacks, with no evidence to support it, is what will decide my vote, since I will be a Jordan resident as of August 2005. Michelle Hill Cleveland REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
