It is critical that we make as much noise as possible in the next
couple of days. Here are some things you can do:
1) Make sure that your Congressman knows that an Amtrak appropriation
of $550 million will result in the end of all Amtrak trains in the
Midwest.
2) Also make sure your Mayor is aware of this threat.
3) Make sure everyone that cares about better trains knows that this year
is different. This is a serious attack. Get them to call or fax their
representatives on Friday or Monday!
.. the House Appropriations committee voted in
favor of a $550 million budget for FY2006, with the stipulation that
most of the trains serving Midwest cities receive no federal funds.
