The charge is so yesterday, because rather than
acknowledging what Log Cabin is doing - being a
principled voice of inclusion within the Republican
Party and helping inclusive candidates - like School
Board Candidate David Dayhoff in the last election -
who lost - it's pretty much impossible for a
Republican to get elected dogcatcher in Minneapolis,
this tired old - Log Cabin Republicans are self hating
closet cases charge is resurrected. This type of
thing is nonsense, and it's also not particularly
political smart for DFL partisans to make. It is the
type of charge that alienates swing voters.

Yup, and at least one of the Outfront Endorsed DFL
candidates - Bev Scalze voted for the Bachmann
Amendment. So did Denise Dietrich. As did State
Auditor Candidate Rebecca Otto when she was state rep.
And Otto is running against a Republican who has
managed to avoid trying to exploit the anti-gay animus
for political gain (unlike other GOP constitutional
officers).

Rather than attacking Log Cabin Republicans of MN, I'd
suggest that Stonewall Democrats do some work
persuading democratic legislators to do the right
thing. I'd also encourage you folks to lobby 6th
Congressional District candidate Elwyn Tinklenberg on
this issue - he was quoted in the Strib and Pioneer
Press saying he supported the Federal Bachmann
amendment.

Gay issues are really a non-issue in Minneapolis
races. Candidates don't win if they are anti-gay in
Minneapolis.

Clearly on both the state and federal levels, both Log
Cabin Republicans and Stonewall Democrats have a lot
of work to do.
