I'm still trying to understand the resistance to the Lagoon Project. One concern I heard has been potential shadowing caused by the building, but this satellite image from Google shows that the location is on the South side of the Midtown Greenway with a couple parking lots to the North (you may need to copy/paste the URL back together if it breaks):

Does that refer to the common image looking NE from the SW corner of Lake Calhoun like this one? http://www.phototour.minneapolis.mn.us/pics/2194.jpg If so, I think that image of Minneapolis represents what's great about our city. A beautiful piece of nature contrasting with a modern city is what makes Minneapolis great. I don't see how the building would change that. Another concern is transit implications. The building be at the intersection of the 21, 12, 17, 6, 861, 114, 115, 23, and 53 bus services, and within walking distance of the 4. It's also Midtown Greenway. There can't be many more already transit friendly spots available in the Metro than this. As far as I can tell, the neighborhood can sustain the growth, the height would have little if any effect property within the shadows, and would do little to change the skyline. I'm having a hard time understanding the argument against this project. - Ed Kohler Cooper REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
