"Assigned?"
I believe their contract gives principals, just like other employees, the right to bid for the schools they want based on seniority.

(For someone who has run for School Board a couple of times now, you would think he'd have sought to learn a bit about what the employee contracts actually say.)

Mr. Bonham's argument begs the question,
"Why do schools with higher percentages of Black students get
assigned "bad" principals?"  Wouldn't you assume that the more
challenging schools would be assigned the best principals?
