I agree with everything Valerie says except, I don't see the new home 
improvement center as a negative.  The building is not really designed for 
anything but a warehouse sized business.  I am tired of having to drive to 
St Louise Park or Fridley in order to get reasonably priced lumber.  Last I 
heard, the opening has been delayed because they are trying to recruit 
employees from the neighborhood.  They are now getting assistance in that 
area from several sources.

Except for this, Valerie, I again agree whole heartedly.  Pollice are only a 
bandaid.  More, much more, needs to be done.  It's also easy and 
understandable to some of us how emotional a person can get at times.  Many 
of us live in this climate, too.  I just suggested to a friend that maybe 
the mayoral candidates and their familes should have to live on 26th Ave N 
for awhile.  whomever lasts the longest wins the job.  I am sure attitudes 
would change.
