I am saddened that some would like to make the election in the "new" 5th
ward about whether CM Samuels came from a "properly" discrimminated-against
background or not culturally. It appears some would rather argue whether he
properly acknowledged his "field-slave grandmother (whom he never knew),
rather than debate the merits of what the two candidates have actually done
for residents in the 5th ward.
What are the attendance records of committee meetings for the 2 candidates
(with abscences excused of coruse for ward business)? What new initiatives
have they Actually championed and brought to fruition in the ward? How much
actual out-reach has each candidate done to ALL the consituents in their
ward? Where do they stand on the Important issues like livability? Are
they attempting to bring about improvements from within the system, or just
making statements that are politically beneficial?
