*Marie Hauser is putting the “L” back in “DFL”*

With numerous candidates filing for the primary election in the 8^th Ward City Council race, only Marie Hauser has the support and endorsement of labor groups. Not coincidently, Hauser is the only announced candidate with elected experience, having served on the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for the past four years.

“I am proud to be running for the City Council as a DFLer, and I am equally proud of the support my campaign has received from virtually every labor group in Minneapolis,” said Hauser after filing for the position last Friday. To date the following organizations have either endorsed or support Hauser’s campaign for the 8^th Ward City Council:

Minneapolis Central Labor Union Council
Teamsters Joint Council 32 – D.R.I.V.E.
Mpls Building and Construction Trades
Minnesota Nurses Association
Fire Fighters Association of Mpls Local 82
Mpls Professional Employees Assoc (MPEA)
Service Employees International Union (SEIU)
UNITE HERE Local 17 & State Council
Third District Nurses
Machinists & Aerospace Workers State Council
Mpls Firefighters Relief Association
Mpls Police Relief Association
United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers

Don Gerdesmeier, DRIVE representative and political director, summed up labor's support, "We know [Marie] will work to protect the rights of Minnesota's working men and women."* **“*Labor organizations were looking for the same skills and experience that 8^th Ward voters will be looking for when they select a candidate in September: Leadership experience, a record of responsible constituent service and commitment to Minneapolis and 8^th Ward issues”, said Hauser, who has lived in the 8^th Ward for 25 years. * *

Marie Hauser was awarded a favorable rating from Stonewall DFL and has earned the support of many women’s groups, including Minnesota NOW, Minnesota Women’s Political Caucus and MN Women’s Campaign Fund. “My campaign is going extremely well,” she said, “and I will continue knocking on doors and listening to 8^th Ward voters through the September primary, the November election and, most importantly, during my term in office."
