Well, filing is over with, and there are 4 candidates running for the Ward 9
seat. There were five (briefly), but Sheila Delany, who appeared to be the
Sabri candidate has withdrawn. Remaining are incumbant Gary Schiff, Dave
Shegstad, Dave Bicking, and Rosemarie Sayers. Compare that with the other
wards: Ward 1 has six candidates; Ward 2 has five; Ward 3 has six; Ward 4
has only one (wow); Ward 5 has only two; Ward 6 has three; Ward 7 has four;
Ward 8 is crazy with ten candidates; Ward 10 has seven; Ward 11 has two; and
Ward 13 has three. The average is 4 candidates per ward.

While I'm not too familliar with Dave Bicking (Green Party endorsement
hopeful) or Rosemarie Sayers, I do know that Shegstad is not a smoker, but
he is angry. Angry with elitist politicians in our city government who have
their minds made up on issues BEFORE public hearings (which are just for
show these days), and dictate from behind locked doors instead of
representing the constituents who elected them.
