perfectly pleasing and pleasantly persuading a pool of potential patrons: 1) youth: the MPL should partner with the Minnesota Spoken Word Association, Diaspora Flow and Juxtaposition Arts and launch a poetry slam/poetry & spoken word performance series in the libraries
2) women of color and poor women: MPL should partner with Speak Out Sisters! to adopt its' Whistle Stop Coffee Shop Series to become a Whistle Stop Library Series and offering popular "each one-teach one" education in the library meeting rooms 3) the unemployed: MPL could partner with the Division of Indian Work, HIRED and other similarly helpful employment agencies to help people apply for jobs, build resumes, gain interviewing skills and access other kinds of help 4) the homeless: MPL could always benefit from particular training around poor peoples's specific needs and, indeed, anti-racism training, in order to increase access to services and become advocates for the elimination of poverty 5) new immigrants: MPL should recruit speakers of the many languages spoken here in Minneapolis and offer timely and creative programs - homework help, research help, computer tutoring, life-in-the-US, and more according to the need 6) elders and folks with problems getting to the library - MPL SHOULD NOT abandon the bookmobile! 7) artists: MPL should not freeze the picture files, but advertise it more fully so that budding artists know that this marvelous resource is available at Northeast i could go on and on, and I will!
