I would like to thank Britt Robson-Senior Editor/Staff Writer, City Pages,
for his post.
I would also like to thank the writers, Demko and Anderson, for the City
Pages article. The real issue to me that fact that after all of the settlements
made for police misconduct, there was no discipline handed out.

As to the posting that sited Officer Mike Sauro as an example, I have to say,
I disagreed with the city terminating his employment because I think the only
reason they fired was him because they were angry at the settlement amount
they gave to Mische. Before Mische(A white male), I would wager most of the
other complaints of force were from people of color and Native Americans.
Settlements that would never meet the Mische settlement.

If Lt. Mike Sauro had a history of excessive force, why wasn't he fired
before the Mische case? If he had a history of excessive force, why was he
promoted
from an officer to a sergeant and from a sergeant to a lieutenant? The city
should not get mad when you have to pay, do something before that officers cost
us our money. Discipline with a child curves the behavior, the same would
apply with adults.

Don't blame the messenger, blame those responsible for the action. I would be
really surprised if my council person isn't demanding accountability, since
that is in line with her character. Terminating the officers employment isn't
always the answer, but issuing no discipline at all is a travesty.

Again, I would like to thank Demko and Anderson for their great article. I am
a supporter of City Pages, because unlike some, they have the guts to
challenge and report on those issues that others tip-toe around.

As always, my respect goes out to the many hardworking, honest police
officers, not only in Minneapolis, but all over the United States.
