STORIES ABOUT THE OLD SEARS BUILDING IN MINNEAPOLIS SOUGHT FOR PUBLIC
TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY

Minneapolis, MN (July 27, 2005) - Did you shop at Sears in South Minneapolis
as a child? Did you or a family member work there? Do you have fond memories
of an annual pilgrimage to Sears to pick out holiday gifts or back to school
clothes? Have you lived in the neighborhood, or participated in community
discussions about the future of the building and its reuse?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, we want to hear your
memories for possible inclusion in a documentary slated to air on Twin
Cities Public Television next spring. To share your stories and memories,
call (612) 823-1022, or email [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The Sears retail store and warehouse on Chicago Ave. and Lake St. in South
Minneapolis was, for decades, a commerce mecca and an important community
landmark. After Sears closed the store on December 24th, 1994, the building
sat vacant for a decade, narrowly escaping the wrecking ball more than once.

Now, a local developer, Ryan Companies US Inc., is transforming the landmark
site into a multi-use complex, including housing, retail, a hotel and the
new corporate headquarters of Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Minnesota's
largest hospital and clinic system.
To capture the history of the Sears building, chronicle its transformation
and introduce it to a new generation, Happy Accident Productions, led by
filmmaker Scott Moore, is producing a documentary, "Building at a
Crossroads." The project is supported by Allina Hospitals & Clinics.

"Allina, including Abbott Northwestern, the Phillips Eye Institute and,
formerly, Mount Sinai Hospital, has been in this community for nearly a
century," said David Orbuch, executive vice president, Corporate
Responsibility and Community Relations. "Our board's decision to move
Allina's headquarters to the former Sears site reflects our mission to
improve the communities we serve and we're excited to be a part of this
important project to capture the history of this community landmark and
share it with a new generation."

Happy Accident Productions is currently approaching corporations,
foundations and organizations with the opportunity to underwrite "Building
at a Crossroads." Interested parties should contact Scott Moore at
612.791.2333.
