Rybak Continues to Abuse His Role with Minneapolis Mosaic

(MINNEAPOLIS) – At the Downtown Minneapolis and North Loop Neighborhood
Associations’ National Night Out last night, Mayor RT Rybak’s re-election
campaign continued to blur the line between campaign and city business.
Volunteers with Rybak’s campaign handed out Minneapolis Mosaic event guides
with the Mayor’s campaign materials included on them to neighborhood residents.

“This is another attempt by Rybak to misuse the Mayor’s office for political
gain when he is in trouble,” said Darin Broton of the McLaughlin campaign.
“This Mayor has no shame when it comes to promoting himself.”

Minneapolis Mosaic is presented by the City of Minneapolis and funded by
corporate sponsors, including Best Buy, Xcel Energy, and The Minneapolis
Foundation. Several city employees also serve on the Mosaic’s Steering
Committee and the Mayor’s wife, Megan O’Hara, is the 2005 co-chair.

In May after the Mayor’s defeat at the Minneapolis DFL City Endorsing
Convention, Rybak’s voice appeared in radio ads for the 2005 Mosaic. The ads
ran from May to June on radio stations across the Twin Cities Metro.

“I don’t know how many of the Mosaic’s sponsors would be comfortable with the
Mayor’s abuse of this program,” continued Broton. “I am assuming some of their
Board members would have problems donating money to a program the Mayor
continues to use as a political arm of his campaign.”
