Hal
I own a split level townhouse within Mpls and have heard nothing of this
effort.
Maybe my townhouse status has left me out of the loop for this
re-evaluation.
I am interested in finding out more on this as well.

At National Night Out last week a neighbor told me that an appraiser
from the city assessor's office had visited his house recently, taken
measurements, looked around, etc., and had told him the work was part of
an effort by the city to reassess the values of the city's split-level
houses.

My neighbor and I thought it seemed a little odd to focus on a
particular architectural style. I told him I'd write to the Mpls Issues
list to ask whether anyone is familiar with the project. So, has anyone
heard of it, and can anyone supply a few details about its purposes and
implications?

In case you're wondering, I kidded my neighbor that he had encountered a
detail-minded burglar, but he said a letter on City letterhead had
preceded the appointment and that the appraiser had given him a business
card.
