Hey folks-

Just a quick story. I am currently in Harlem visiting some good friends, and yesterday both of my friends were very excited for me to walk the two blocks from their apartment on 145 and Broadway to Riverbank State Park. They were all in a tizzy saying that it was a beautiful park. I walked down to the park yesterday, and in that moment I became extremely grateful for our Park and Rec Board and for the care that Minneapolis takes with its parks and public spaces. The view from the park of the East River and George Washington Bridge was spectacular. The park itself was concrete, dry grass, stunted trees, and bad architecture. If any Minneapolis park looked half as bad as this NY State Park, the park board commissioners would find themselves unceremoniously booted out of office so hard they sparks from their landing would light the desicated grass on fire!

Here's to beautiful parks!
