I was downstairs making a cup of coffee and decided to post an apology to the way I addressed Megan Goodmundson. While I cannot apologize for my feelings, I do apologize for the harshness of the words. I know that Megan, as well as many other on this site, are looking for solutions. I also recognize Megan, to have a passion for peace in the community. So I offer my apology, knowing that we mat spar again on other issues.
I have been African-American for a very long time, and that alone offers me the opportunity to know things in the African-American community that others are not privileged to. So I will say this, be very careful, listen and watch. Some are sincere and other have found a loop hole. I will share one more thing with you. If you will notice most of the "ex-gang members" and "ex-drug dealers" are either doing outreach work under nonprofit organizations or are Reverends. Some are sincere and some are not. If the first thing an ex-drug dealer buys, after becoming a Reverends, is a Jaguar or Cadillac Escalade, I might have some questions. Are we encouraging those receiving the funds to go back to school and received degrees in Social work? What is the prerequisite to outreach? If being a former gang member is it, that makes me even sadder. Loyalty to the cause should encourage those ex-gang members to set educational examples and go back to school themselves. When you tell a child to leave a gang, what are you offering them after that? Perhaps that should something they have to do to get the funding. I'm willing to give everyone a chance. I have been around a very long time. I'm a very good listener and have excellent vision. Again, I apologize to Megan for being so harsh. I only ask that you keep that fighting spirit, but please keep your eyes and ears open. Michelle Hill Cleveland REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
