The DFL has sought and received legal opinions that non-endorsed candidates
placing "DFL member" on signs is perfectly legal, but not just "DFL", as
leaving it alone on literature or signs implies an endorsement. I haven't
looked carefully at the lawn signs Mr Mann mentions, but if there is something
other than "DFL member" on them, then those candidates have a problem.

Likewise, if Mr. Mann placed "Green Party Member" on his signs, no problem. If
his signs say "Green Party" by itself, the Green Party would be well within its
rights to ask him to sticker over that part of his lawn signs.

Tim Bonham of the DFL urges that the Green Party do a smear campaign and file

Maybe Tim didn't notice that Mayoral candidate Peter McLaughlin and two
candidates for the 8th ward city council, Hayes and Tifft, seat put "DFL" on
their
lawn signs, even though they did not get the DFL endorsement. And Mr. Bonham
does not cite any court decision to support his contention that putting the
name of the party to which one is affliliated on a lawn sign, by itself,
constitutes a clear violation of MN statute 211B.02

I filed as a "Green Party" candidate. I am a registered member of the Green
Party. And I publicly supported Green Party candidates and causes before I
formally joined the Green Party in the Fall of 2003. Therefore, I am a Green
Party
candidate.

I suggest that, instead of doing a campaign against Doug Mann, the Green
Party members who support the Green Party's endorsed candidate do a campaign in
favor of the Green Party's endorsed candidate. I am not stopping the Greens
endorsed candidate from putting up lawn signs, doing lit drops, door-knocking,
etc.
