I should have clarified that the "CO" proposal in the
Legislature is not public ownership with tax dollars........
rather, it would be members of the public who get to
buy shares in the Twins. For a nominal fee, say $100,
you could buy a single share and get a certificate that
you could put on your wall next to the bobbleheads.
Shares would also come in larger denominations.

People who invested larger amounts of money would
have a greater say in the team's affairs, just like with
any business, and the largest investors would act as
the "managing partners." But still, a key component
would be that everyone, even the small shareholders,
get to vote on any proposal to move the team, and
that feature "takes the wheels off the team."

too many other things!)

(Now, if I'm wrong about a difference between "community
ownership" and "public ownership," please correct me. However, I'm starting to smell the idea of tax dollars going into buying a ball team. Yuk.)
Maybe I'm missing something, but is this another "need" or a "want"?
And where does this fall on the priority list of everything that we don't have enough money for?
