The Strib editors put the cart before the horse. They were all in favor
of closing schools before attending to staffing needs. They liked the
facilities engineer who said, "we don't worry about staffing at this
point," when asked how the school closings would affect staffing. They
supported a wannabe superintendent who played lose with the rules
regarding treatment of teachers (Jennings refused to honor the contract
until forced to by the attorneys, and his unconscionable and
unprecedented- in size- assignment realignment.)
But, hey, attending to staffing needs is probably still a good idea;
better late than never.
