I don't know a lot about the details or past history of Laverne Turner's
football program in East Phillips. But it seems there is considerable room for
a
cooperative effort of a worthwhile inner city sports program for kids and
the mission of the Park Board to provide for recreational activities.
What would it take for this to be a MPRB sponsored league?

In my neighborhood, Seward, we have a long history of non profits holding
Park Board sponsored events on Park land. Last year the African PEACE festival
and the use of Matthews Park for an African Immigrant soccer tournament was a
sponsored event. This year King's Fair, a neighborhood celebration on Sept
10, is also a sponsored event, which means we take out a permit and cover
liability insurance, but there is no cost to use the park.

I would also suggest that you contact Park Commissioner Hauser, she is
running for the 8th Ward council seat and this is in her current Park
district.
She needs to solve such problems to show voters she has the skills necessary
to
be a city council member.

East Phillips has been waiting for Park Improvements that were scheduled to
occur 12 years ago and is one of the most undeserved areas in the park system.

Thanks,
Scott Vreeland Seward
Candidate MPRB District # 3
