Completely anecdotal data here, but we had some "shoefiti" show up in
our back alley about four months ago - wigged the neighbors out.
Then, last week, a couple of guys decided to pump five bullets into
the house directly underneath the shoes. Turns out there was drug
dealing from a couple of vans parked there, and shooters and tenants
were, let's say, business rivals.
(The tenants - technically victims, by the way - were evicted; they
had long rap sheets as juveniles clearly something was up. Good work
by the landlord and also by MPD, which responded right away, kept the
neighborhood informed and worked with a problem property task force
to get quick action from the landlord.)
Anyway, in our case shoes = drugs.
