Somali women from Minnesota will first time meet with
the President of the 60th Session of the General
Assembly at the United Nations in New York H. E. Jan
Eliasson, (former Swedish ambassador to U.S.A) and
other officials at U.N on Friday Sep 2, 2005
St Paul, MNÂ….Five Somali women delegation will travel
to New York on Thursday Sep 1, 2005 to meet high
officials at the United Nations. The Executive
Director of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center Mr.
Omar Jamal will be leading the delegation.
The delegation will hold an official meeting with the
President of the upcoming 60th General Assembly of the
United Nations. The delegation, most of whom are
women, will express their voice to the United Nation
officials. This is the first time that the Somali
women are given a chance to express their views to the
international community about the current political
crisis in their homeland.
The General Assembly will open on Sep 14, 2005, and
Somali issues will be raised at this session.
