Great work by Gente de Minnesota!

I agree, this was an excellent article. Don Bellfield did very well. He seemed to resonate on the small business concerns of many in the Latino community, while he was clear and direct when he answered the question about drivers licenses contrary to what many of your readers would want.

Another question I
believe may be of interest to your readership is the
position of candidates on resident alien voting
rights. State legislators have stated that they need
local governments to support their efforts to make the
necessary changes to allow local jurisidictions expand
the franchise to noncitizens in local elections.

Resident aliens pay for, use and depend upon local
government services and allowing resident aliens to
vote in local elections requires local elected
officials to respond to the needs of all residents.

This is what I don't get. There is something called citizenship. Legal immigrants who are permanent residents should be encouraged to pursue US citizenship. If there are unfair barriers which impede people getting citizenship, we should look at those issues.

Again - I very much appreciated you translating the article, and posting this to the Minneapolis Issues list. I'd like to encourage you to post here more often.
