Hello all,
I voted for Farheen Hakeem, and I have been an endorsed GP candidate for
state House in 58A.
I have met and talked with both men (T-dum, T-dee) at length on certain
issues. On many issues, the differences are semantic. They only look large
in the magnification of the political vacumn of DFL dominated Minneapolis.
RT definately is a good cheerleader for the city, but lacks insight outside
his personal experience, which may account for why he is so popular amongst
affluent white city-dwellers. They relate well to smiles and gestures which
substitute for action - what I suppose used to be called "ivory tower
liberals".
Peter McLaughlin, unfortunately, has many of the same tendencies. BUT,
Peter does seem to understand the struggle against racism and concentrated
poverty that faces many in Minneapolis. That said, the fact that the Police
Federation is at least nominally supporting him (by being anti-RT), may cast
doubts on that.
So, I may have to write in Farheen anyway.
While I'm on the Police Federation - the whole "high risk behavior"
discussion struck me because I have heard a version of this from the police
quite often. "Why do you live here?", "You should move", "Don't you know
it's dangerous around here?", etc., etc.
I moved here from NY in July '93 and rented a really nice 2 BR apartment
just off Chicago and Franklin for $425/month. Compared to where I came
from, I have, since that day, with some few exceptions, thought this is a
pretty quiet town and generally a great place to live and raise a familiy.

Seems to be one of the big questions of the day, so to spur discussion...
To the forum's Green Party voters:
With Farheen Hakeem out, will you vote for Peter or RT, and why? (I don't
preclude not voting, but if you're doing that, explain also.)
