I'm sorry, but what is the point of a candidate
running a write-in campaign when the voters rejected
him just last month?
Clearly, not enough of the "real people" of the 9th
Ward did felt Mr. Shegstad should go to City Hall. I
would say it is even embarassing that he got fewer
votes in September than he had lawn signs.
And who should be surprised? This news release claims
the two top vote getters "represent business as usual"
and that he is the only "real choice." But besides
being "real," what does Mr. Shegstad actually stand
for?
His website (please check it out at www.shegstad.us)
basically says the following:
1. Developers are bad
2. We need cameras in parks
3. Community schools are good (a city council issue?)
4. People shouldn't have to pay for ambulances
5. Publicly-funded stadiums are bad (not that either
of the 9th ward candidates on the ballot are actually
for tax-payer funds for the stadium)
I'm not against lost-cause campaigns for the sake of
making a statement, but it's unclear what Shegstad's
statement is except that he's "real."
Ironically, my guess is that any votes that Shegstad
could actually get would make the job easier for
incumbent Gary Schiff to win on Nov 8th.
