My good friend and most excellent candidate for Library Board, Laura Wittstock, continues to repeat the incorrect assumption that RT Rybak has handled the city debt responsibly, IE saying: (comparing Peter to RT.) " I understand he is saying utilization of resources but do we have a leaky roof? It seems to me the apples to apples comparison is paying down the debt or passing the payments (and more interest) on to the next group of taxpayers in line."
The truth is that RT (and his fellow "economists" on the city council) are bonding for public pensions; an act of fiscal irresponsibility that is practised by no other city in the state and prehaps even in the country. A practice forbidden by our constitution to the state. Even worse, these are fully taxable, unlike tax exempt municiple bonds. All because our city "leaders" refused to deal with the MERF and Mpls police pension funds in a timely manner. Phyllis Kahn State Rep 59B REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
