Excuse me, but I was questioning another's post... read the post... those are question marks and asking ...am I reading this right! Dan wrote and explained it very clearly that he had written about it before and it was wrong information. What's wrong with Minneapolis...we spend too much money where things could be done a bit smarter. Our schools were failing while more money was spent per child then most places in the country. We have a dropout rate of 47% and some of our children do not know that 2 dimes and a nickel make a quarter. This does not bother you? Our rental units were paying 2.5 percent higher taxes than national average and we spend 200 to 400 thousand to do 40 to 100 thousand dollar projects. Our elms trunks are not being taken care of properly which only fosters more elm beetles, I care that playground equipment is good enough for children to play on so they don't hurt themselves...to be vocal does not mean that one does not care about the city...otherwise I would have left a long time ago and with the taxes coming..it's an option. We won't talk about children in shelters and others without... I made it very clear...Meloglaze was not without fault...what they have done with their construction permits is none of my concern nor the permits for the table. Being able to sit on parkland and having a cup of coffee was my concern. If someone is so concerned about that strip of land...why are they not taking care of it and mowing it or has it now become Meloglaze's responsiblity? So it is the permits that are bothering you...take your question to the source where it can be answered...I only go there to have a cup of coffee once a week. I stand by the fact we need to have independent thinkers in this town and not a bunch of party followers. DFL and I am one...has had control of this city for many years...they only have themselves to thank for the messes such as public safety, schools, libraries, no money, etc. So blame me...blame yourself...of course, take off the rose colored glasses first. dorie rae gallagher/nokomis Public Safety is only an issue for Minneapolis' current administration if it gets them elected, PERIOD!!!!! And if Ms. Gallagher's favorite parkway spot had applied for their construction permits for their remodel, along with their sidewalk café permit, Ms. G would be able to get a very accurate idea of the costs and response time of Minneapolis construction inspections services.
