I might also suggest that Schiff's is the same campaign that, when its campaign signs experienced vandalism during the Primary had response #1 rather than to find out if others' were (and they were) filed charges against Shegstad for supposedly creating the vandalism.

And told people that Shegstad was a wierd righty fundy, based on the fact that he happens to attend church with his family. Nope, it means he is a Lutheran, which , last I checked was OK in the great state of Minnesota.

And has been painting him as a Republican with an all Republican support committee. Nope again. His is as far as I know the only truly nonpartisan group in this ward, drawing from at least 4 different parties as its base.

As to the regular folks with mortgages, I AM one, as one only needs to look in my front yard to document. While I don't agree with all of Shegstad's stands, I have never been either a one issue voter or a knee jerk party loyalist, and don't see, based on the development of the area as it has occurred in the incumbency, that business as usual is necessarily a great thing. Before all the DFLers throw rotten fruit, you might notice that I don't support the incumbent Mayor either.

Now I'll go back to lurking and busting my butt to find enough money to pay said mortgage.

Far be it from us to suggest that Gina Palandri is indulging in some very
boorish and transparent mudslinging on behalf of the Schiff campaign, but it
seems that transparency and full-disclosure should require that an official
(Treasurer) in Gary Schiff's re-election campaign would identify herself as
such when going on a venomous rant against the Bicking campaign in a public
forum.

Might we inquire if this is the same Gina Palandri who posted this comment
on the Issues Forum on October 12th:

"For immediate news release:

Beware upon election day; as thousands and thousands of UFOS might be sited
over Ward 9. They will be depositing "regular-family-business-as usual"
folks (you know the kind-the ones that have mortgages and jobs and kids)
that will come and write in Dave Shegstad for City Council. We have never
seen these folks before, as they only come out when called upon by the
powers greater than we know.

Beware on election day...watch for these people. They will be staring at
you- them regular folks.
Peace.
Gina Palandri"

Two questions:
1. What exactly qualifies this slander as "news" requiring "release"?
2. To use Palandri's words, would it not be better if Mr. Schiff's ". . .
campaign workers spoke about what [Mr. Schiff's] positions are instead of
stating things that are not true"?

We in the Dave Bicking for City Council campaign will continue introducing
ourselves and our candidate to the people of the 9th Ward and engaging them
in honest discussions about the issues. We respectfully suggest that the
Schiff campaign do the same, instead of spending valuable time and e-print
space maligning other candidates.

As Barb Lickness, one of Schiff's fellow-DFLer's, scolded in this forum
after Schiff called in the police and the t-v news media to report stolen
lawn signs (an expensive, time-consuming, never-ending problem for ALL
candidates): Spend more time “worrying about substance." And we would add:
Spend less time accusing your opponents of campaign malfeasance.

Come out of the gutter and into the sunlight, Ms. Palandri and Mr. Schiff.
The air is cleaner and the company much better.
