Caravan Support Rally
Send Your Voice to Washington!
Friday, October 28th at 10 a.m. at MAP
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Campaign to End
AIDS (C2EA) rescheduled the departure date of the
caravans that are now traveling across the country to
raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The launch of the
caravan was postponed by four weeks, so instead of
arriving in Minneapolis on September 29 the Caravan
will now arrive on October 27.

The local event is scheduled for Friday, October 28 at
10 a.m. at the Minnesota AIDS Project located at 1400
Park Avenue South in Minneapolis. (Note that the event
has moved inside rather than being held outside the
MAP building.) Minnesota HIV/AIDS activists and
caravan riders will be speaking on urgent issues such
as reauthorization of the Ryan White CARE Act and US
funding of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.

The Campaign to End AIDS (www.c2ea.org) is a coalition
of individuals and organizations, including MAP, from
across the United States working together to build a
strong and relentless response to the HIV/AIDS
pandemic. C2EA has four overarching demands and four
front-burner issues for 2005:

We demand that our leaders...

Fully fund quality treatment and support services for
all people living with HIV everywhere.
Ramp up HIV prevention at home and abroad, guided by
science rather than ideology.
Increase research to find a cure, more effective
treatments and better prevention tools.
Fight AIDS stigma and protect the civil rights of all
people with HIV and AIDS everywhere.
In 2005, we urge lawmakers to...

Reauthorize and fully fund the Ryan White CARE Act.
Keep Medicaid strong for people with HIV/AIDS and all
other beneficiaries.
Strengthen the global fight against AIDS by fully
funding the Global Fund and backing 100 percent debt
cancellation.
Restore and revive effective HIV prevention worldwide
based on the best science.
Nine C2EA caravans are traveling across the country in
vans, on buses and will converge on Washington, DC for
four Days of Action on November 5-8. Minneapolis is an
overnight stop for the Seattle-based caravan with a
MAP-hosted rally on October 28. For more information
about the caravans, C2EA, and how to support this
campaign, visit www.c2ea.org.
