Two finalists. No information about the proposals. Still no public meetings.

"Minneapolis has chosen two finalists for its citywide Wi-Fi project: Earthlink and US Internet (a local ISP). The city will ask each finalist to set up a pilot hotzone in Minneapolis. Where the hotzone will be located has not been determined but according to James Farstad, consultant to the city, it will be a location where eight to ten applications can be tested thoroughly.

"The city will proceed with its due diligence, review and negotiations with the finalists and then select a winner.

"Minneapolis has also joined Intel’s Digital Communities program which I announced last August (click here for the Intel announcement)."
