The situation between Gina and Carrie Ann is unfortunate. I am the canvassing
coordinator for Dave Bicking's campaign. And obviously, I need to do more
training of my canvassers when discussing the critical differences between Gary
and Dave. Many people who are working for Dave, including myself, have been
avid antiwar activists that are very familiar with passionately debating with
pro-war, right-wing, ultra-conservatives. This population is not found too
often in Ward 9. In addition, there are many people from all political realms
that are against the war, the stadium, and so on. We may not always agree on
how we choose to take action. This diversity of opinions further enriches
progressive politics. Therefore some people will prefer Dave over Gary based
on those actions. And some people will prefer Gary over Dave - which I respect.
So the bottom line is - I'll take the blame. I like both Gina and Carrie Ann a
lot and it is unfortunate that they had a bad start when meeting each other. I
feel that Dave will do a better job representing people in City Council. I
have witnessed him be a strong ally to people of color and immigrants, as well
as a phenomenal community organizer, which is very important to me. I am not
saying that Gary is bad, but my experience with Dave proves to me that he is
better qualified for the job. Gary was my city council person for three years,
and I never saw him in the community. Most of the women of color that I know
in Ward 9 dont even know who he is. This is why I prefer Dave over Gary.
That is also why I am donating my time to canvass for him.
