Of course, just like Grove Street on the Island, the city should vacate 16th
between James and Knox so the kids don't have to risk crossing in the
traffic and we could put the new stadium right across the road and use less
of North Commons.

Is this really "for the kids?" Does ANYONE believe that if North High
School wanted to build a stadium for the kids in North Commons Park that
the Park Board would be so cooperative?
What a great idea. As a North High alum, I remember the trek to the field
blocks away. With North Commons right across the street, it only makes
sense to have North's field there. I propose that our soon-to-be-elected
roster of Park Board members arrange a land swap on the North side. Let's
move North High's track and field over to North Commons (and maybe build
some really nice seating while we're at it), and shift part of North
Commons over to the site of the current field. I know that North Commons
Park is bigger, but if you kept part of North Commons Park where it is,
and only swapped part of the land, you would actually be gaining a park in
the process. Let's do it for the kids.
