Oh Neal,
I am sorry you were as bam-boozeled as the Sierra Club Political Committee when
they heard the candidates for the Mayoral election. Mayor Rybak claimed
responsibility for many environmental initiatives and projects that were in the
making long before he became mayor (Phosphorus ban, vapor recovery, source
water protection, to name a few). Educate yourself, man!!

The Environmental Management Division is down from 9 field employees to 4.5. In
addition, Environmental Health division (restaurants inspectors, for the
layperson) is down from a high of 14 to 8 employees. The smart, inspirational,
dedicated young 20-somethings are gone. The 30-somethings are scrambling to
get out. Environmental initiatives are limited to the improvement of
Minneapolis' gov't image, not community health and conservation.

RT's appointees (those that received the 16.1 % raises), have replaced these
inspectors with another layer of management. This layer has no inspection
experience or licensure to do so, no inspections background, no experience
utilizing the database that City of Minneapolis departments has used since
1998.

RT buffaloed us all four years ago and citizens are paying the price.
Minneapolis can't afford another four years.

Sierra Club member, volunteer, and McLaughlin campaign contributor,

Laura Huseby
