According to Strib, quoting MPD Inspector, robberies are up citywide 20% from last year. Based on anecdotal evidence, and now this stat, it seems good old street crime, mugging in particular, has really come into vogue lately. Lucrative, low risk criminal activity, but hasn't it always been thus? What's behind the spike?
