Howdy List!
I'm writing to first of all thank each and everyone of you for
contributing to policy discussions during this year's elections; I
learned a lot and have a greater appreciation for the value of the Mpls
List serve. Now that I'm almost fully recovered ;), I thought I would
share with you my experience of the last weekend camped out on the
Northside for our GOTV (that's "Get-Out-The-Vote") push that was
published in this week's Pulse.
Camping out on the Northside:
The undercover officer is only one to shake hands

Clarification: Note that my original heading (my original was "Will Work
4 the Community: Camping out on the Northside at election-time"), but
alas, was changed by the editor to "grab" more attention. But its true,
only one officer accepted my offer to shake hands - an undercover STOP
officer who stopped by to let us know he was out there "watching" us.
I'm not pleased to report this, but the police were disrespectful
towards myself and my volunteers all weekend - jaded, cynical, and
attempting to be "tough." or something like that. Tough? Try camping
out in "tough" neighborhoods all weekend unarmed. (thanks to Keith
Rettiman, who offered arms and a Kevlar vest, although I declined!).
Please read up on it:

Again, thanks to all who contribute to The List.
