What impact does this have in Minneapolis?
What is the proposed path of the light rail in South
East, around campus and into downtown?

Does it hook up with the existing rail line before
coming downtown?

I know some St. Paul residents I spoke to last night
were concerned about possible loss of affordable
housing in St. Paul much liked happend when I-94 was
put through the Rondo neighborhood but it sounds from
this article like light rail will run right down
Univeristy.

Even if there is no direct loss of affordabel housing,
light rail might raise rents and increase development
of surrounding properties making it less affordable
for current residents.

On the other hand, the bus on University currently
takes forever and a train will likely encourage
greater ridership and be more convenient for many and
hopefully lead to more transit options and routes
feeding into the train in the long term which will be
helpful to those with lower incomes who don't have
cars.

Has there been any impact on availibility of
affordable housing along the Hiawatha Line due to
related development?
