Reading the article in the Pioneer Press, I couldn't believe how many
parking spaces were going to be taken off our streets.
For this reason and many others (i.e. speed and convenience for transit
and cars alike), we ought to bite the bullet now and pay for elevated
lines (subways downtown). Otherwise, I don't see how we'd ever be able
to manage a fully-developed LRT system. My understanding is that the
central line would come into Downtown Mpls by 5th St . . . is this
correct? If so, can you imagine the jams we'll be seeing with only two
lines in place?
