For those of you who want to get good, accurate information on the efforts to decriminalize homelessness in Mpls. you may want to subscribe to the Decrim MN blog moderated by myself and Guy Gambill.
This blog has many excellent posts in our archives addressing homelessness specifically in Mpls and the successes so far in changing laws, obtaining funding and researching ways to humanely assist the most vulnerable of our city's residents. Decriminalizing homelessness goes hand in hand with stopping the criminalization of people with mental health diagnoses. This is a blog that is not a debate blog. i.e. it is meant for those who want to exchange research, posit proactive change and also update people on the continued work of the Decrim Task Force members. If you would like to get an invite to the blog...e-mail me and I will send you an invite or go to yahoo groups/decrim minneapolis to subscribe. You also will find links to many excellent sites on the blog home page. Margaret Hastings Kingfield REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
