I agree, we should be able to pass a file descriptor for album art over
MPRIS, like is done with notification icons nowadays.
This saves us from having to save stuff into tmp or cache or having a
”physical” representation altogether.
I’d be happy to implement any spec amendment in KDE Plasma that you come
up with ;)

A lot of Flatpak packaged apps now add a huge list of folders to their
configs. They need to have access to those folders to be able to display
the images the other apps are sending via MPRIS.
We need a better way how to deal with this.
