We have no problem sending to Sun boxes.  The conversion works fine, since it is based on the CCSIDs involved.

Channel conversion is not our preferred route, we would rather go without this.  Unfortunately there isn't enough time to run through all our processes for making coding changes and therefore we're contemplating using channel conversion from EBCIDIC platforms.  We've tested with OS/400 and it works fine, we just need to know if the Mainframe will allow channel conversion when sending to Sun Solaris.

Why use in channel conversion?   Why not use get with  convert?   This way you can change your mq topology, adding channels  if necessary w/o incurring the cost of conversion as the message crosses very  channel.

Subject:
Channel conversion from  Mainframe

Hi,

We may need to enable channel conversion on a  channel from the Mainframe to Sun Solaris.  Does anyone know if this is an  issue?  Are there any gotchas?  Is there any documentation  specifically for channel conversion from the Mainframe?

Thanks in advance,

Kulbir.
