Hello there

Has anyone use MQSeries in a PPRC environment ? I want to know
what is the operation process in cutting over from the primary site to
the remote DRC site.
For example, there is a central site (primary) and many branches
connected to it using MQSeries. The central site has a DRC site. The
data is transmitted from the primary site to the DRC site using PPRC.
When the normal operating site fails, the DRC starts operation, then
MQSeries would continue to transmit to the DRC site.
My understanding of PPRC is that an exact identical dasd system is
created at the DRC site. So the logs and data are identical to the
normal operating site at the point of failure. However, the IP address
of the DRC would be different. My thoughts are that we need to run some
scripts at the primary site to change the channel definitions to point
to the DRC site. Also, we need to do commit/backout of inflight
messages as the message sequence would be changed (change in channel
definition on the same XMITQ). Is this all ?
Also, in the commit/backout proceess, what do you do ? Could you
automate it such that we always backout the messages. This would be
easier to run automated during DRC. However, at the end of day, some
jobs need to be done to compensate those duplicate updates (provided the
application is designed to detect duplicates).
Could you share your experience. Thanks very much, Sc
