If HP maintenance has been applied, /usr/lib/nls/iconv might have been
overlaid. You might try running the MQ utility /mqm/bin/reset_iconv_table to
reset the conversion tables.

I think that it is a conversion thing - check your
QMGR CCSID  - did you recently change it ? Is it
correct ?
