I don't know how to remove the peak once you've generated it.

When I transferred rrd data from .log or stone-age rrd to my current
system I used something like "rrdtool update N:U:U:U:U" to reset the
COUNTER settings to Unknown.

(btw, is anyone interested in my log->rrd script which tries to
re-generate the MAX as well as the averages ?)
