Are you certain that the RRA that line comes from isn't the same length of time as the graph? If you do a `rrdtool info filename.rrd` are there only 288 entries for the RRA being read? (288 is the number of 5 minute readings in a day.) You might be leaning just far enough back in time that the RRA doesn't cover the first reading and it is bumping you down to the 30 minute readings.
