Matt, This sounds all very cool ... I am still a bit skeptical about the speed promise, but if it is fast and portable what else would one want, so lets see the code ... :-). If you look at the dataformat you will see that the calculated data sources are using some tricks to fit their calc-data into the rrd headers ... as a new format is created it would be cool to have provide more or even flexible space for such things ...
