I'm a newbie at the MRTG game, so please excuse me if this is something obvious. I promise I've read the documentation, and the FAQ, and searched the archives of this list, and googled for answers already.
I've installed MRTG 2.9.27beta and PERL 5.8 (which other people have reported success with) on a Windows 2000 SP3 box (with all current MS patches). Getting it running was painless thanks to the "WIN32 MRTG installation guide" document. Starting small, I generated a config file with cfgmaker just for one router. So... I have MRTG running - the log files, graphics and HTML pages are being updated every five minutes - so far so good. However - the values being reported are just silly. For a serial link at 64K, it's reporting: Max In: 2048.0 B/s (25.6%) Average In: 1379.0 MB/s (17237132.8%) Current In: 1832.5 MB/s (22906496.0%) Max Out: 2012.8 MB/s (25159465.6%) Average Out: 2007.5 MB/s (25093422.0%) Current Out: 16.0 B/s (0.2%) The "max in" and "current out" could be right, but the rest are clearly way out! The values are similar for all interfaces being monitored. The router is a Cisco 3640 with IOS 12.2.13a. The relevant part of the config file is: ### Interface 5 >> Descr: 'Serial1/2' | Name: 'Se1/2' | Ip: '192.168.191.94' | Eth: '' ### Target[192.168.180.22_5]: 5:[EMAIL PROTECTED]: SetEnv[192.168.180.22_5]: MRTG_INT_IP="192.168.191.94" MRTG_INT_DESCR="Serial1/2" MaxBytes[192.168.180.22_5]: 8000 Title[192.168.180.22_5]: Traffic Analysis for 5 -- router1.lab.net PageTop[192.168.180.22_5]: <H1>Traffic Analysis for 5 -- router1.lab.net</H1> <TABLE> <TR><TD>System:</TD> <TD>router1.lab.net in </TD></TR> <TR><TD>Maintainer:</TD> <TD>Martin Reilly</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Description:</TD><TD>Serial1/2 LEASED LINE 64K to Wherever</TD></TR> <TR><TD>ifType:</TD> <TD>propPointToPointSerial (22)</TD></TR> <TR><TD>ifName:</TD> <TD>Se1/2</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Max Speed:</TD> <TD>8000.0 Bytes/s</TD></TR> <TR><TD>Ip:</TD> <TD>192.168.191.94 ()</TD></TR> </TABLE> I'd appreciate it if anybody could give me some pointers to what I might have done wrong. (Was it too adventurous to start with a beta for my first attempt? The install doc said use 2.9.26b or better, and the FTP server had a comment that 2.9.26 "has issues on windows", so I went with the newest...) -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/mrtg FAQ http://faq.mrtg.org Homepage http://www.mrtg.org WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi
